Our chosen educational philosophy encourages social interaction between age groups, and children are not strictly kept or classified into a group/class or limited to specific age activities. We follow the individual child’s development; thus, the school’s class sections are not fixed. However, for practical reasons, four distinct groups are defined as follows:
Driven by curiosity, toddlers between 18 months and 3 years expand their horizons through exploration.
Preschool children, 3 to 6 years old, with increased independence, learn by participating in life’s great adventures.
In grade R, the final year of preschool, children prepare for the great expedition into primary school and beyond.
When humans do what they love, learning happens naturally. At Liberté School, we foster a lifelong love of learning by identifying and taking advantage of learners’ natural curiosity, strengths and talents. We allow children the freedom to follow their interests and passions and learn in a manner most suited to them as individuals.
Our approach focuses on modern cognitive science (the science of learning and thinking) applied within a Montessori-inspired learning environment, allowing us to adapt our approach to each child instead of expecting them to adapt to a given educational system.
We are located on the boarder of the Rietvlei nature reserve.

At Liberté, we believe education is not restricted to school. Indeed, learning extends to home and the wider community; it takes a village. Working with parents, families, and the community to foster understanding and appreciation of their role in children’s development, is an essential component of our aim to create the best possible learning environment.
We conduct school visits on most Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m.
