Overview

Cambridge Primary English encourages a life-long enthusiasm for reading, writing and spoken communication. This curriculum is for learners with English as a first language and develops English language skills for different purposes and audiences, and encourages a wide range of written and verbal communication skills.

Learners develop skills and understanding in four main areas: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The programme has been designed to foster effective communication skills applicable to a range of information, media and texts to enable learners to become confident communicators capable of using English clearly and creatively for various audiences and purposes.

This curriculum supports an integrated approach to teaching using a broad range of activities that promote experience, reflection and communicative improvement. A range of fiction genres, poetry, play scripts and non-fiction books, text and multi-media is used to provide authentic contexts for skills development.
